Buying observations, not an official price list. A mid-tier bathroom set for one bathroom typically totals ₹55,000–1,20,000 in fittings and sanitaryware.
Water pressure: the specification nobody checks
A rain shower needs pressure to perform. If your overhead tank sits two floors above the bathroom, you may have 0.4–0.6 bar at the shower, and a 12-inch rain head will dribble regardless of what it cost.
- Measure the static and running pressure at the bathroom before selecting a shower. A plumber with a pressure gauge does this in ten minutes.
- Below about 1.0 bar, choose a low-pressure-rated shower head or install a pressure pump. In many older Mumbai buildings a pump is the only answer.
- A pump needs a location, power and a vibration-isolated mounting. Decide that at the plumbing layout stage, not after the tiles are on.
- Thermostatic mixers generally need higher and more balanced pressure than manual ones. Confirm the minimum before specifying.
- If a pump is out of the question, a well-chosen hand shower on a rail delivers a far better shower at low pressure than an underperforming rain head.
What specifying it means on site
- Rough-in dimensions for wall-hung WCs and concealed cisterns must be fixed before the wall is built. Changing brand after the frame is in usually means rebuilding the wall.
- Leave an access route to the concealed cistern — the flush plate is the service hatch and the frame must be reachable.
- Within 2 km of the sea, chrome-plated fittings pit faster. Specify good plating and tell clients to wipe fittings dry; this is a maintenance habit, not a product defect.
- Record the model and finish of every item in the handover file. Cartridges and aerators are consumables over a fifteen-year bathroom life.
- Keep the visible trim and the buried valve body as separate decisions. Trim can be changed in an afternoon; a buried valve cannot.
Our position
Greenbox is an independent design and build studio. We are not a dealer, distributor, franchisee or channel partner for Jaquar or any other sanitaryware brand, and we accept no brand-linked incentives. We specify on merit, buy through Mumbai suppliers at market rates, and pass through invoices where we procure for a client. Product warranties are the manufacturer’s and are offered on their terms.

Frequently asked questions
Which Jaquar line should I choose?+
It depends on the item. We usually recommend spending at the concealed valve bodies and the WC, which are buried or hard to replace, and economising on accessories and secondary bathroom fittings, which are easy to upgrade later. A single tier across the whole bathroom is rarely the efficient answer.
Why is my rain shower so weak?+
Almost certainly pressure, not the product. Rain heads rely on head of water, and in many Mumbai buildings the tank is only a couple of floors above. Measure the running pressure at the shower; below about one bar you need a pump or a low-pressure-rated head.
Is Greenbox a Jaquar dealer?+
No. We are an independent studio with no dealership, distributorship or channel relationship with Jaquar or any other bathroom brand. We buy on the open market and pass through invoices where we procure.
Can I change the shower trim later without breaking the wall?+
Only if the concealed valve body stays the same. Trim and valve are usually matched within a brand and sometimes within a series, so changing brand later means opening the wall. That is the reason to choose the buried component carefully and treat the visible part as the flexible decision.
How long should bathroom fittings last in Mumbai?+
Ten to fifteen years for the body of a good mixer, with cartridge and aerator replacements along the way. Chrome plating near the sea pits sooner if fittings are left wet. Keeping the model details in the handover file is what makes a cartridge replacement a fifteen-minute job.
