Multiplied by carcass factor (HDHMR ×1.0, BWP ×1.18, WPC ×1.3) and shutter factor (laminate ×1.0 to PU ×2.1); the hardware grade multiplies carcass and shutters together. A base run with wall units above it therefore comes to ₹9,900 per running foot of counter in laminate on HDHMR with standard hardware — the rate on the budget kitchen in our records — and about ₹18,700 in PU on BWP with Hafele, which is where the densest premium kitchen we have measured landed.
The counter line above prices the slab, its fabrication and its fixing onto the modular boxes. A built-in masonry platform — supporting structure, granite with polish, fixed — is a different item and is billed at ₹5,300 to ₹7,950 per running foot. Check which one a quotation is giving you.

How to measure running feet
- Measure the base runTotal horizontal length of counter, in feet, excluding the fridge gap.
- Measure the wall runLength of overhead cabinets — usually shorter than the base run because of the window and chimney.
- Count tall unitsEach full-height unit is roughly 2–3 running feet wide.

It is an indicative estimate, not a quotation — a real price depends on your actual drawings, site condition and material selection.

How much does a modular kitchen cost?+
₹1.1–1.3 lakh for a small 7 ft laminate kitchen, ₹2.0–2.4 lakh for a standard 8×10 ft kitchen in laminate on BWP with Hettich, and ₹3.2–3.8 lakh for the same run in acrylic on BWP with Hafele, a quartz top and the full accessory pack. All figures exclude 18% GST and appliances.
What are running feet in a kitchen quote?+
The horizontal length of cabinetry measured in feet. A kitchen with a 10 ft counter run has 10 running feet of base units. Quotes are built from base, wall and tall running feet, each at a different rate because they contain different amounts of material.
Should I choose BWP plywood?+
In a kitchen, yes — particularly in humid or coastal cities. It adds roughly 18% to the carcass cost and is the one component you cannot upgrade later without dismantling the kitchen. HDHMR is acceptable in dry climates; avoid particle board entirely.
Does this include the chimney and hob?+
No. Appliances are excluded and typically add ₹60,000–₹3 lakh. Their cut-out dimensions must be confirmed before fabrication starts, so choose appliances during design rather than after.
