Four ways a render flatters
- Camera. Renders are shot with a wide lens from a corner that does not exist — often from inside a wall. The room appears larger than it will feel.
- Light. Render lighting is ideal: even, warm, no glare, and daylight from a direction your flat may not have.
- Clutter. No chargers, no shoe pile, no drying rack. Real rooms hold objects.
- Materials. A rendered veneer is a perfect repeating texture; a real one has variation and joints.
How to read one critically
Ask for the camera position marked on the 2D layout — if it sits outside the room, the view is not one you will ever have. Ask whether the lighting in the render matches the actual colour temperature being specified. And ask for one view at standing eye height, 1,600 mm, from the doorway — the view you will actually have a thousand times.
Ask for what sits behind the image: the material list keyed to the view, with laminate codes, paint shades and stone names. A render whose materials cannot be named is a mood image. One that can be unpacked into a schedule is the beginning of a specification.
Render, walkthrough, elevation
A render is a still image. A walkthrough is an animated camera path through the model, costing considerably more. An elevation is a flat, dimensioned, straight-on drawing of one wall — no perspective, no drama, and the drawing that actually gets the joinery built. Approve the elevations, enjoy the renders. See our process and completed projects, where you can compare the render to the photograph.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a 3D render cost in India?+
₹3,500–14,000 per view depending on detail and revisions. Most residential design packages include two to four views per key room. Additional revisions beyond the included count are typically ₹1,500–3,500 each.
Are 3D renders accurate?+
Geometrically, usually. Perceptually, no — wide lenses, idealised lighting and the absence of clutter make every rendered room look larger and calmer than the built one. Read them for material and composition, not for the sense of space.
How many revisions should a render include?+
Two is standard, and enough if the mood board and layout were properly approved first. A project needing five revisions at render stage has a problem upstream, at the brief or the palette.
Can renders be used to compare designers?+
Only for taste, not for capability. Rendering is frequently outsourced, so a beautiful image may say nothing about the studio's execution. Ask to see photographs of finished projects alongside the renders of them.
